Last year we realized that the birds love our currents as much as we do. After losing half of our crop to our feathered friends we
realized we needed a smaller version of our blueberry net system. Metal stakes support pvc pipes, plastic bird netting is draped, stitched and held down on the edges with large branches.
This spring when re-erecting the nets the birds were swooping and calling out as if they knew we were putting the kabosh on their feast. Netting is not our favorite garden chore but harvesting nature’s bounty is a positive reinforcer. Yesterday’s tour of the garden
revealed ripe strands of currents so we will harvest today and jam tomorrow.
TOMORROW ALMA AND I WILL BE JAMMIN’!
